He studied formally. At Syracuse University he earned a BFA in Fine Arts with a concentration in intaglio (etching, engraving, lithography) and a BA in Economics (1969–1973), then an MBA in Finance and Marketing (1973–1975). He knew how to draw and print at a professional level. Then life went another way. He built businesses, closed deals, and for roughly fifty years barely made artwork. He did not forget how. He simply was not in the studio.

When life at home got heavy — including years as a caregiver for his wife through Lewy body dementia — he returned to painting. He came back hard. The blue-pencil drawings on cream panel are the core product for Western rooms: whole heads, ornate tack, riders who lean into the gallop, wolves and lions that look back at you. Color oils use the same darks and places as the drawings — shapes of light where a thousand hatch lines would go. Whites come last. He does not rush a piece out the door; he shows it when it is done.

What hangs in Scottsdale galleries and what sells on this site should match: horses and faces first, Western story with the picture, commissions for people who want an heirloom from a photograph. Soft salon color for the right room. Sculpture when the idea needs weight and scale. He does not lead with apology that he is “new.” The drawing hand was always there. The painting output is the return.
