Artist Introduction for Little Saint Art                

There are stories behind every brushstroke—stories of love, loss, and the search for belonging. My name is Paul, and my journey as an artist began in the mangroves of Miami, where my mother, Gabrielle Santina, first taught me to see the world through an artist’s eyes. She was a woman of mystery and resilience, abandoned as a child but determined to create beauty wherever she went. Together, we searched for pirate bottles among the roots and shadows, collecting fragments of history and memory.

After losing my mother at 10, I was uprooted from the sunlit chaos of Florida to the quiet fields of Vermont, where my half-sister Marlene and her Italian family welcomed me into a new world. These early experiences—of displacement, adaptation, and the enduring strength of women—became the foundation of my art.

Today, I create atmospheric paintings of horses, cowboys, cowgirls, Indians, landscapes & indigenous animals  in the Arizona desert.

My work is a celebration of resilience, transformation, and the beauty that emerges from hardship. Each piece invites you to look beyond the surface and find your own story reflected in the colors and forms.
